EARTH HEALING #10: Tasting Earth, Digging Earth, Bees, Biomimicry & Choices

Earth Healing is a weekly curation of posts from the Hive blockchain which center around the healing of Mother Earth; we specifically encourage and reward posts which promote natural harmony, rejuvenation projects and sustainable living. Natural Medicine for Mother Earth ranges from simple appreciation of her diversity & beauty, through to practical posts encouraging a new relationship with organic gardens, food and lifestyles.

Each week one post author will be chosen as a post beneficiary.

Earth Healing is particularly grateful to @naturalmedicine and @abundancetribe for generous delegations, practical support and leadership, and is curated each week by @artemislives.

We, who have been the scourge of Mother Earth and the cause of so much of her sickness, are invited to engage and contribute to her health and recovery.

Did You Ever Sip Your Tea From a Kulhad?

Tea sipped literally from the earth - with an earthy edge to its taste, a tiny carbon footprint and no need for compex recycling - just smash, add water and you can build you next house with enough of them. 😆 The old traditional ways are showing us how to solve the seemingly unsolvable plastic problem. Earth Healing isn't always complex. Read more...

Mason Bees Hatching From Their Cocoons - Video Lapse

The incredible love and care to protect and hatch baby mason bees. Earth Healing requires us to step up and mitigate the damage we have collectively done, and protect the vulnerable ones as climate change threatens them too. Our bees have suffered so much! This little video, light issues and all, made my heart smile. Read more...

Garden Tips? (Organic)

"I gave up on the idea of giving up, and so I planted a garden." The ultimate Earth Healing - local, personal and something we enjoy and use everyday, which reduces our collective dependence on large scale agro-chemi-farming. Read more...

Biomimicry as a Solution to Climate Change

The exponential power of positive action for climate change. Biomimicry is about copying nature, and its principles of design and action - much the same as the bullet train mimics the Kingfisher's beak to achieve efficient, super-fast movement. So much to learn about in the dense little post, that creates a basis for all of us to flow together more harmoniously. The natural energy that pulls us together can impact climate change and fast-track Earth Healing, if we choose it; "it is our best tool to quickly and effectively make a change on a global level." Community Journal #2: Recycling and Gathering Resources

Salvaging and repurposing another's waste from an old burnt out house - keeping things OUT of landfill and reducing the need to buy new things. It takes experience to see what can be repurposed, and how, but Earth Healing is served each and every time we buy-use less and find new uses for old things. The repair and repurpose mindset is thankfully alive and well in Chile! Read more...

Pharmacy At My door

Putting fewer harmful chemicals into the earth, her waterways and into our own bodies STARTS with effective & natural alternatives. Earth Healing is served on so many levels when we encourage healing plants, learn to use them, and limit the chemicals and toxins we use and buy. This humble healing "weed" is so versatile and now found right across South America and Asia through to India. Read more...

Fibonacci Spiral Earthship 3D Fly-Through Grand Reveal

Earth Healing demands we live differently, and an Earthship is a radical step towards a holistic, more integrated life. The new Fibonacci Spiral Earthship, designed by @eco-alex specifically for his site in Portugal, shows us that off-grid, sustainable living needn't be ugly or 1967 level hippie. In fact, the design is surprisingly stylish and elegant. No bills and able to produce your own food in a climate controlled, eco-sustainable home that is incredibly inexpensive to build? That's a healing thought in and of itself. Watch here...

The Vegetable Garden In Front Of My Apartment

Faced with government & banking collapse in Suriname and the prospect of civil war (inflamed by Covid-19 lockdown) and food shortages, @sreypov and @justinparke have done the (only) seriously smart thing and planted a garden. Lots of things not ready to eat yet, but they are healing their little corner of planet earth and balancing the global crazy as best as they are able. Read more...

This week, and every week, we make one person who is curated above a 5 percent beneficiary on this post. It DOES have to be a @naturalmedicine delegator, so this week, I'm choosing @sreypov - we appreciate her poetic sincere, earth-loving spirit & want to show our appreciation.

Wow, Thank you very much for your support. 😁🙏🏻

Very welcome Sreypov. I wish you abundant harvests from your garden.

Wow, we are truly humbled. I will have @sreypov drop by this post. So, @Sreypov has recently surpassed me in photography skills as many of you have probably noticed. She now has a notebook full of codes, makes her own posts totally from scratch, and this learning curve was all conquered in a month.

In other news, yesterday a 6pm curfew was imposed, and we are no longer allowed to enter shops, we must buy through the iron bars. The queues are sometimes 30 minutes or more even for small corner shops, and we are finding it hard to communicate with the Chinese shop owners, but to our amazement so are some Surinamers. Two Venezuelan girls waiting in line today tried to get us to translate for them, but we had to tell them we are just as hopeless.

What's the dominant language in Suriname, @justinparke? Just for daily shopping etc? And how's the wifi and other infrastructure holding up?

Well, with the recent increased lockdown, we can't go out past 6pm and we can't go inside the shops, and now have to wait in in queues over a half hour just to get a lighter or any basic item. We've now learned the Chinese shop owners don't really speak Dutch.

Apparently there is Chinese organization which teaches new arrivals Sranang Tongo, as it is simpler and easier for them to pick up. However, their Dutch and English is very limited, so we struggle to mix a bunch of languages. Surinamers are even having communication problems at the shops, so many have recommended we have pictures on our phone of the items we need. Life just got a lot harder. Now we have to add 2 hours to everyday just for waiting in queues.

I really hope it gets better soon, we can't keep living like this.

Thanks very much for sharing and curating my bee content.

Thanks for doing such wonderful work to ssupport the world's bees. 😊
