I found some of these brown oysters late in november over here growing on a willow tree. They were the best tasting oysters I've ever had. I suspect the willow tree added a bit of sweetness to their taste.

How much did you gather?

It was roughly 2/3 of the patch you show growing on the tree in your photo. Only good enough for a couple meals. I turned them into stir fry with a bed of rice.

This evening I did photograph the local willow tree:

Are those dried oysters? Not looking similar to my knowledge.

My guess is that it is a northern tooth polypore. Or something related.
